This 'thought piece' was written for www.charonqc.co.uk to address the view of health and safety as a 'burden on business' whilst we can see the shameful and devastating results of inadequate health and safety management in Qatar.
Currently, the death toll is 62 fatalities for each match scheduled for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. That isn't going to reduce. 62 people killed for every single game of the biggest tournament in the biggest sport in the world.
That is shameful. It is unacceptable.
The focus this week in the news hasn't been about the human tragedy unfolding in Qatar. It has been news of corruption at the highest levels of FIFA. Only time will tell if the charges and accusations are proven. We wait with interest...
In the meantime, we are faced with the worst performance in the construction of any major sports tournament in modern times. People still go to work and still die.
And that is why health and safety isn't a burden. It is an absolute necessity.

After many years, four different companies and so called “consultants” Andy is a breath of fresh air, he doesn’t drown us in unnecessary generic paperwork, he uses his years of experience in all different fields to assess our needs he provides workable and above all understandable policies and documentation specific to our business. Many thanks.”
